🌿 Why I Started Direct Psychiatry 360

My journey with mental health care started long before I became a psychiatric provider. Back in 2012, my own family faced repeated mental health crises, many of them centered around neurodivergence and the challenges of finding the right care.

At that time, access to consistent and compassionate psychiatric care felt nearly impossible. Providers changed frequently. Insurance shifts from year to year, often meant losing the very clinicians we had finally built trust with. Every time we began to find our footing, we were thrown back into another crisis.

We also believed in a holistic approach, but blending those beliefs with the reality of psychopharmaceutical needs for our son was overwhelming. Too often, the system left us feeling like we had to choose between two extremes rather than being supported with a balanced, whole-person approach.

I remember learning about the concierge model of care and thinking, “One day, I want to create a practice like that — a place where families can find stability, access, and trust.”

Building the Foundation

Fast forward: I have now been a private pay psychiatric provider for over four years. In that time, I’ve helped families navigate crises, supported college students in saving their semesters, and bridged gaps in access where the traditional system left patients stranded.

I’ve built a practice where:

• Patients see me month after month, without constant turnover.

• Communication is responsive — starts and stops of medications are managed promptly.

• Families feel heard and supported, not shuffled through a system.

But I’ve also seen the heartbreak when patients, in tears, told me they couldn’t afford to continue care out of pocket. Too many were forced to return to providers covered by their insurance, even when they wanted to stay.

Why Direct Psychiatry 360

Direct Psychiatry 360 was born from these experiences. It’s my way of making concierge-style psychiatry more affordable and accessible, without sacrificing the quality of care or the human connection that is so often missing in traditional models.
